January saw 3 defaults of speculative-grade bond issues

Credit-Rating, a nationally recognized credit rating agency in Ukraine has today published statistics on redemption of bond issues in January 2010 rated by the agency.

According to the prospectuses of the issues, 9 outstanding bond issues for UAH179.1m matured in January, with 97% of this amount accounting for 8 issues of housing bonds and 3% for 1 issue of interest-bearing bonds.

The issuers have redeemed 4 issues for UAH49.6m. The issuers and investors have reached restructuring arrangements on 2 bond issues for UAH69.2m. The violation of redemption terms were recorded on 3 issues for UAH60.3m.

As in December 2009, all of the issue ratings which defaulted during the month pertained to the speculative grade.

Credit-Rating agency has operated in the Ukrainian market since 2001 being committed to assignment of the national scale ratings. The agency has assigned 1073 ratings since start of its activities. As at Feb. 1, 2010 the Credit-Rating’s list of ratings is represented with 665 ongoing ratings: 509 in corporate, 107 in financial, and 49 in municipal sectors. In January Credit-Rating has assigned 1 credit rating, revised 14 ratings, suspended 17 ratings and withdrew 15 ratings.
