Analysis of Ukraine's banking sector in 1Q2009


The banks have been mainly affected by the following factors:

  • decline in macroeconomic indicators and adversities in a number of economy sectors, which has prompted a considerable erosion in the quality of banks' working assets;
  • volatility in the currency market and growing administrative pressure on financial institutions;
  • retaining poor confidence of domestic and foreign investors to the banking system and unsolved issues regarding state support of financial institutions.
