Survey of Ukraine's Banking Sector for 1H2010
Despite
the hardships in the national economy, 1H2010 saw stable recovery in the banking sector.
This was fueled by a reserve of liquidity in the banking system, and by gradual backflow
of customer funds, which were withdrawn by individuals and legal entities at the crisis
height - that allowed to ease debts of the banking sector to non-residents and the
regulator. At the same time, a great portion of loans provided by the National Bank was
still prolonged in 2009 and early 2010.
